香港樂團 Fantastic Day 台灣首場演唱會專訪與介紹

來自香港的樂團 Fantastic Day 成立於2004年, 團名發想來自英國 New Wave 名團 Haircut 100 的同名歌曲。Fantastic Day團員深受英式搖滾影響, C-86與 Jangle Pop 曲風更是他們的最愛。也因此 Fantastic Day 的曲風也以C86, Jangle Pop, Neo Acoustic 為主軸。

Fantastic Day 於2007年首次透過美國著名獨立音樂廠牌 Cloudberry Records 發行首張 EP < Well Well Well > 開賣首發立刻完售，但由於種種因素迫使 Fantastic Day 銷聲匿跡了4年。 2011年卻也因為bass手的車禍在醫院再次聚首，於是Fantastic Day在 2012年重新復出。

2013 Fantastic Day正式加入香港新世代獨立唱片廠牌 IMAGINE RECORDS。 Fantastic Day 的復出消息傳出後令香港獨立音樂界為之驚喜，並於同年12月發表首張LP “ < Innocent >。  Innocent 的曲風輕快愉悅，groovy 的 progressive的drumbeat以及主唱陽光愉快的嗓音彷彿初夏一抹溫暖怡人的陽光。

Innocent專輯廣受好評，在日本與歐美皆收到廣大的回響。在日本Tower Records, HMV, 以及 DisUnion 都取得高度評價!  歐美挑剔的音樂雜誌與相關媒體也接連給予正面音樂評論:

聽著 Fantastic Day 的音樂, 讓我不由自主地回想起第一次在音樂祭聽到 Foster The People ” Pumped Up Kicks ” 的時候全身熱血沸騰不已，忍不住想跳舞的快樂心情，以及 Pains of Being Pure At Heart 女主唱輕快愉悅的歌聲伴隨著淡淡青春憂愁的惆悵感覺。

Screaming Eye 先生:

Hey Yuman, the long awaited Fantastic Day concert is approaching, and I would like to talk with you about your record label and the band?

Hey Yuman, 台灣樂迷非常期待的Fantastic Day 將要來台灣表演了，因此我想與你聊聊你的獨立唱片Lable以及樂團?

Yuman: 

Of Course! It would be our pleasure. Yes, Fantastic Day will have their first ever Taiwan Tour from April 17~ April 20,  2014.

當然可以！我們十分樂意。對。Fantastic Day將於4月17-20日到台灣展開一連4日的巡演，也是Fantastic Day首次到台灣演出。

Screaming Eye 先生:

When was IMAGINE Records first started?  And as the label’s owner, what is your vision, concept or inspiration behind IMAGINE Records?

IMAGINE唱片是什麼時候成立的? 身為IMAGINE唱片主理人你的願景，理念或是 Inspiration 是什麼?

 Yuman:

IMAGINE RECORDS was started because of our band THE YOURS。 Back in 2011, we were already good friends, I attended their studio recording, live performance, band practices and parties。 I shot a series of photographs and footage。 I wanted to document THE YOURS, and the making of the documentary lasted about a year and still continuing. And fast forwarded to 2012， THE YOURS released their first LP < The Way We Were > And I asked them “ How about let me manage THE YOURS? “ And that’s how IMAGINE IMAGINE IMAGINE (AKA III-RECORDS) started。

After III-RECORDS was formed, because I often noticed and came across some really talented and amazing bands, but they were without a manager, an effective and systematic promotional plan, and they certainly won’t be signed on mainstream label because they only want mainstream stuff, and the bands certainly don’t want to go on mainstream. So, I thought why don’t we start an indie label like III-RECORDS? We are a label with attitude, just like Factory Records, Creation Records, and Sarah Records, all with its own unique quality. ( Youth、Voice 、Visual ) is our core value。

IMAGINE IMAGINE IMAGINE RECORDS的誕生全因為THE YOURS。2011年當時我跟他們已經是好朋友，我跟隨他們去錄音、演出、練習及派對，拍攝了一系列的影片及照片，最初是我自發性去拍攝THE YOURS的紀錄片，拍攝歴程有一年多(現在還繼續)，其後到2012年THE YOURS首張大碟<The Way We Were>推出之前，我跟他們說:”不如讓我做THE YOURS的經理人”，就是這樣開始了IMAGINE IMAGINE IMAGINE RECORDS幻想唱片。

成立III-RECORDS因為看到一些隊其實十分出眾而又有很強的實力，但卻欠缺一個中間人及有系統的宣傳，他們都不會受到主流唱片公司的青睞，他們亦不想。所以何不自己創辦一個獨立唱片廠牌，我們III-RECORDS有獨特個性，像Factory Records丶Creation Records及Sarah Records一樣都有自己的特質。 [青年、聲音、視覺] 是我們的核心。

Screaming Eye 先生:

MP3 is the most widely used digital format , and with the rise online music streaming services like Pandora and Spotify, and not to mention the peer to peer non-copyright music sharing habit of most people, do you think it is more difficult than ever for artist to survive and make a decent living solely by making and performing music?  Because it seems to me that only mainstream and commercial artists make good money, doing so from commercials and representing various consumer products.  What is your take on this topic?

MP3已是現在的主要規格，以及現在線上直播音樂的Pandora還有Spotify另外還有 peer to peer 的音樂分享平台加上大家免費分享與下載音樂的習慣，你是否覺得現在的artist 越來越難單靠音樂表演的收入生存? 主流artist 似乎可以靠廣告或是代言賺許多的錢，你的觀點是?

Yuman:

Apparently this is a sad fact, we all need to promote and let more people notice our music，the web is the best, cheapest and most effective channel，but ，we are inevitable to face and accept the terms of bigger company, and the copyright law is not really doing what it was meant for。 And yes, now comparing to the 80’s, it is harder for artist to make a living solely on music，the over flow of information has flooded the web，this could be an issue or it could also be our advantage。 The mainstream adopts every channel of multi-media to promote their product with the backing of mass funds and resources, indie bands often stay ignored and bypassed, but on the other hand, we can also use the internet to promote ourselves with no or little cost。 III-Records is not yet making huge sum of profits, but I am fully confident with my bands，at least we felt our youth is more precious than money。

無疑是一個可悲的事實，我們都需要宣傳，需要讓更多人可以接觸我們的音樂，網絡世界是最佳最快速而又便宜的渠道，但 無可避免地要接受一些大公司的條款以及版權如同虛設的問題。沒錯，現在較比起如80年代相對地較難生存，網絡世界令全球資訊爆發已逹到失控地步，這是一個 問題，但同時也是我們現在的優勢。主流絕大部分都是用佈天蓋地的宣傳製造，投放資金遠超想像，相對地沒有大財團支撐的獨立廠牌自然會被忽略，所以我們更加 需要利用網絡世界的優點。雖然我們幻想唱片還不能逹到收支平衡，但我對旗下的樂隊有十足信心，至少我們都相信青春比金錢更為重要。

Screaming Eye 先生:

I noticed that Fantastic Day not only release CD and MP3, they also released their musical work on 12” vinyl, and this is rare for artists in Asia in general, what is your thoughts on pressing vinyl for up and coming artists in Asia?

我發覺 Fantastic Day 除了發行 CD & MP3 以外也同時發行了 12″ 的黑膠唱片，這對現在的亞洲樂團是非常少見的，你對剛起步的artist 發行黑膠的看法是什麼?

Yuman:

Vinyl is the basis of music, to me CD and MP3 are all just byproduct of vinyls。 In 2012 when THE YOURS released their first LP, even though the cost is super expensive but we insist to press 12″ and 180 gram vinyls made in the US。 This is a must have attitude and all releases from III-RECORDS, it doesn’t matter EP, single or LP will all be pressed in vinyl。 This is a decision we made when we first started our label。 Countries across Asia such as Beijing and Japan, we also noticed some indie labels are starting to release their work in vinyls, it is a very exciting trend。

黑膠是音樂的基本，對我來說CD及MP3只是黑膠的副產品。2012年THE YOURS首張專輯推出之時，雖然成本超級貴，但我們都堅持一定要推出12吋180gram美國製黑膠，這是一種應有的態度。幻想唱片旗下所有樂隊，不論EP、single及album，都會推出黑膠，這是我們幻想唱片最基本要做，亦是創立之時的決定。至於亞洲其他地方如北京及日本，看到有一些獨立廠牌已經及開始推出黑膠。這現象令人十分興奮。

 Screaming Eye 先生:

Fantastic Day had collaborated with several fashion brands such as Fred Perry and Thom Browne, do you think it help the band’s image as fashion forward and stylish? And how do you feel about artist’s collaboration with fashion and other subculture?

Fantastic Day 與許多時尚品牌例如 Fred Perry 以及 Thom Browne都有合作，你認為這樣類型的企劃是否對於Band的時尚 & stylish的形象有幫助? 你對於artist與不同時尚產業與其他次文化的結合有什麼看法?

 Yuman: 

It definitely helped，as I mentioned earlier in this interview that visual is one of our core value。 Sound and visual is inseparable，it’s easy to imagine how would it be like if a fashion show is without proper music in the backdrop。 Music and fashion will also be as one， the relationship is like photosynthesis, couldn’t be any more natural。 At current generation，to collaborate with other culture and industry is a must，worldwide web hs blurred all boundaries preexisted。It’s this generation’s biggest advantage and also the biggest drawback，depending on how you perceive it。

絕對有一定的幫助，正如之前所說 [視覺] 是我們3大核心之一，”Sound & Visual”是永遠分不開，如果fashion show沒有音樂，會變得怎樣，這不難想像。  音樂與時裝一直以來都是密不可分，兩者關係就像是光合作用，最自然不過。 於現今世代， 與其他文化及領域合作是必須，網絡世界令所有界線及界限都模糊了，這是我們這一代的很大優勢，但同時也是一個很大的缺點，只是你如何對待。

 Screaming Eye 先生: 

We will see Fantastic Day at The Wall in Taipei coming up next week, very excited!  And is Fantastic Day planning to add tour dates in North America and European cities on their itinerary?

下禮拜我們將會在台北的 The Wall 跟 Fantastic Day 見面，大期待!  Fantastic Day 是否由計畫在美國或是歐洲巡演?

 Yuman:

I myself and Fantastic Day is very looking forward to the Taiwan Tour，we hope people will show us their support。 After Taiwan Tour, we will head to China for more tour dates。 As for US and European Tour，we plan to wait until we released the 2^nd album，and funds is a huge problem，we hope we can make it。 Appreciated。

我們Fantastic Day也很期待今次的台灣巡演，希望到時大家多多支持及包涵。之後會去中國巡演，至於美國及歐洲，計劃在明年第二張新專輯推出時展開，資金是一個好大問題，希望我們可以辨得到。感謝。
